The Johnson-Cork Wedding (September 2010)

Heather had a clear idea of what she wanted for her wedding flowers. She loved the idea of using vibrant colours and avoiding an overly structured look. Instead she asked for a bouquet that could almost have been gathered in armful from a meadow.

Heather designed her wedding dress and the bridesmaids dresses together with her incredibly talented mother, Elizabeth Cork, dressmaker and "3d fabric manipulator".

Elizabeth made the wedding dress, six bridesmaids dresses, the waistcoats, cravats and her own outfit.
She provided me with strips of the dress material for the bouquets and buttonholes and pieces of the wedding dress lace to be wired into the bridal bouquet.

Elizabeth also suggested we include heather picked from around the Scottish family home in Heather's bouquet and Shaun's buttonhole as a surprise.

The combination of thistle and wheat  resulted in buttonholes that were both striking and masculine.

The mothers corsages were a fusion of the bridal bouquet and buttonholes, incorporating the leaves, roses and thistles for a more feminine look.

Heather's bouquet included thistles, sunflowers, gerbera daisies, roses, red oak leaves, heather and her dress lace.

The bridesmaids bouquets were made from sunflowers, gerbera daisies, roses and bear grass.

Heather's little sister, Sarah, had a special posy of gerbera daisies and the oak leaves.

We had so many comments about how beautiful and striking the flowers were and the buttonholes were so unique. Everything was beautifully put together and so much care, attention and love was put into making them.
